Federal Choose Blocks ICE Arrests Inside NYC Immigration Courthouses

A federal decide in Manhattan has barred ICE from arresting most immigrants inside New York Metropolis’s three immigration courthouses. 

The keep, granted by Choose Kevin Castel on Monday, comes after a virtually year-long authorized battle over arrests inside immigration courthouses, which turned the face of ICE enforcement in New York Metropolis below the Trump administration. 

Whereas the lawsuit continues, the order bars ICE from focusing on most immigrants for arrest inside courts at 26 Federal Plaza, 201 Varick Road and 290 Broadway — besides in extenuating circumstances of public security or nationwide safety.
