The 43rd Great North Run saw thousands of participants battle through showery conditions.

The renowned half-marathon, which begins in Newcastle and travels through Gateshead, South Tyneside, and South Shields, attracted about 60,000 participants.

Thousands of fans lined the route with umbrellas to support friends and family, despite the bad weather.

If you took part in the Great North Run, here is how you can find your results and guidance on how to sign up for next year.

How long is the Great North Run?

The Great North Run is a half-marathon – therefore, it is 13 miles.

The race begins at the Town Moor on the major freeway in Newcastle‘s city centre. During the first mile, participants cross the Tyne Bridge into Gateshead and proceed on the A184 towards Heworth and other locations.

Running from the A184 to the A194 is possible from miles three (Gateshead International Stadium) to eight (the Tyne Tunnel turn-off); this is a fairly straightforward stretch of road with no sharp twists.

There is a slight decline between kilometres three and five, and a pleasant stretch between miles five and eight. Additional climbing can be expected from miles eight to 12 before a quick, steep descent to the sea on Marsden Bank and a about level last mile for the home stretch beside the surf at South Shields.
