Amnesty International has reported the presence of UAE-made armored personnel carriers, equipped with French defense systems, in Sudan’s ongoing civil war, potentially violating a UN arms embargo. The vehicles, used by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) against the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), were identified in several conflict zones, including Darfur. Amnesty’s findings link the French-made Galix defense system to RSF operations, urging the French government to halt further supplies to the UAE. Although the UAE denies supplying weapons to the RSF, allegations persist amid concerns over arms trafficking. Despite the efforts of third parties, including the UN and the US, the war continues with both sides accused of committing crimes against humanity. The civil war, which erupted in April 2023, has led to over 20,000 deaths and displaced 11.6 million people.
