InterCaribbean has announced its intention to launch a direct flight from Grenada to Guyana, pending government approval. Upon approval, individuals can travel to Georgetown from Grenada in less than 90 minutes.

An official statement from the airline representatives indicates that the new service is pending government approval and will commence on December 1, 2024.

The airline has announced its plans to introduce a new non-stop route connecting Grenada and Georgetown, Guyana, expressing enthusiasm for this development.

“Starting December 1, 2024 (pending government approval), our ERJ 145 jet will offer twice-weekly service connecting the Caribbean island of Grenada with Guyana, recognised as South America’s emerging gateway,” stated the air carrier.

Flights are scheduled to operate every Thursday and Sunday, departing from Grenada (GND) at 12:20 p.m. and arriving in Georgetown (GEO) at 1:50 p.m. The return flights are scheduled to depart from GEO at 2:35 p.m. and arrive at GND at 4:10 p.m.

“Special promotional fares will be available from December 1-18, 2024, and from January 8 to March 31, 2025,” stated the representatives from InterCaribbean.

Currently, Caribbean Airlines is the sole airline providing a service to Grenada from Guyana; however, this flight includes a connection in Trinidad and Tobago, resulting in a longer travel time between these two countries.

InterCaribbean Airlines registered in the Turks and Caicos, commenced operations in Guyana in 2021 and has since broadened its reach to various other Caribbean destinations. The airline currently provides services to Barbados and additional connections from Guyana.

This service represents a significant advancement in improving connectivity between South America and the Eastern Caribbean.

Petra Roach, the CEO of Grenada Tourism Authority, stated that the launch of this service represents the fulfilment of a vision to connect Guyana with Grenada, fostering closer ties among the people, cultures, and economies.

She expressed gratitude to the airline for their dedicated efforts and commitment to making this air bridge a reality and anticipates its commencement.
