New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson is downplaying rumors about his relationship with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

On Wednesday, ESPN’s Rich Cimini shared that Wilson said there’s no friction between him and Rodgers.

“Yeah, I’ve seen some of that. Yeah, I mean, there’s no truth to that,” Wilson told Cimini. “At the end of the day, I don’t speak on things like that because social media is not real.”

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport recently reported Wilson’s and Rodgers’ issues started during a “blowup” in training camp. He added the WR may request a trade if Rodgers returns to New York next season. Wilson suggested some are stirring the pot.

“This is my first time addressing it,” Wilson said. “That stuff is just words for people trying to figure out a way to divide us more than they’ve already tried like the record isn’t enough. Obviously, we’ve got a lot going on here, especially this season, trying to dig ourselves out of this hole. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to. But my feet are where my feet are at, and I’m going to try to finish this thing the right way.”

Regardless, Wilson doesn’t seem happy with the franchise, which is understandable.

In three seasons with the Jets, the former first-round pick has 275 receptions for 3,198 yards and 14 touchdown catches. However, the Jets still haven’t snapped their 14-year playoff drought. This season, they’re 4-12 and third in the AFC East.

Rodgers — whom New York acquired in a trade with the Green Bay Packers in 2023 — was billed as a savior, but the 41-year-old is likely nearing the end of his career.

In his first season with the club, Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles tear in Week 1. In 16 starts this season, the four-time MVP has completed a below-average 63% of his passes for 3,623 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Earlier this season, the Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas. If the new GM and HC must pick between Rodgers and Wilson, expect them to keep the 24-year-old wideout.
