Chelsea’s head coach, Enzo Maresca, has given an update on Malo Gusto’s fitness ahead of the Blues trip to West Ham United in the early kick-off game.

Maresca was speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of the game where he confirmed that both Malo Gusto and Reece James will not be available for the clash against the Hammers. Gusto was ruled out of Chelsea’s win against Bournemouth last weekend after suffering a thigh injury against Crystal Palace earlier this month ( September 2024).

What did Enzo Maresca say about Malo Gusto?

He confirmed that Gusto is still not in full fitness, but the team is working to ensure he gets back on track.

He said,

“Malo Gusto is also not fit and not ready to play yet, as well as Reece James”.

Recall that Chelsea confirmed on its website a couple of days ago that Gusto is on a different training plan as he works his way back to full fitness.

The French international has been fantastic for Chelsea with his form down the right flank with his offensive and defensive work. He was also inverted into midfield at times in the new system, too.
