It wasn’t a secret that Trump could be president again, or that his plans — starting with a mass deportation push — would have a huge impact on our New York City. So what are there so few specifics about what City Hall and others plan to do in response?
FAQ NYC hosts Christina Greer, Harry Siegel and Katie Honan discuss that, park fires, Weiner’s return talk and much more from another jam-packed week in New York City.
Plus, Chrissy reflects on the election and “what made me really sad about the results. I’m worried about a lot of my neighbors. I’m not necessarily personally worried, just yet. But I’m worried about the future of my nation”:
Talking to my dad — who’s 76, who integrated his high school, who grew up in the segregated south — and my mom, who never went to school with a white person ever in her life not because she didn’t want to but because she couldn’t, it’s like they fought really hard to make some changes in this country and as they’re in what my dad calls the fourth quarter of their lives, they’re seeing things revert back to the first quarter.…
My dad’s like, ‘I’m just really sad and angry.’ And it’s just not the way he thought that like his sunset years would look, and it’s not what he thought he was leaving his kids and his grandkids. The level of stress that I see my parents under is what makes me very angry that this country has allowed herself to do what she always does, which is ebb and flow and progress and regress.
We’re clearly in a regress stage, if we’ve ever seen one in our history.
