The Pittsburgh Steelers have added another intriguing piece to a roster that has proven to be one of the best in the AFC.

Veteran wide receiver Jamal Agnew signed a practice-squad deal with the Steelers on Tuesday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.

Agnew was last with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He signed a three-year, $14.25 million deal with the Jags prior to the 2021 season and made a significant impact on special teams. Agnew was named to the Pro Bowl in 2022 as a replacement for former Baltimore Ravens kick returner Devin Duvernay, who could not play because of an injury.

The first four seasons of Agnew’s career were spent with the Detroit Lions, who drafted him in the fifth round in 2017. The former San Diego star was named a First-team All-Pro as a rookie after he led the NFL with 447 punt return yards and two punt return touchdowns.

The Steelers improved to 7-2 with their win over the Washington Commanders on Sunday. They got a massive contribution from another wide receiver they recently acquired, and they are hoping Agnew will be able to carve out a role down the stretch as well.
