After struggling to reclaim its offensive prowess, Arsenal saw a welcome sight return to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday against Liverpool.

Star forward Bukayo Saka scored his first goal back with the club after a hamstring injury kept him off the pitch for nearly two weeks.

Saka’s opening strike for the Gunners was his 50th Premier League goal and put his club up 1-0 just nine minutes into the match.

The 23-year-old is in his seventh season with the club and made his 178th appearance on Sunday.

The young English superstar is also chasing former Arsenal legend Thierry Henry’s league assist record (20) set in 2002-03 and shared with Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne. Saka currently has seven helpers in nine matches played.

Despite Saka’s inspiring start, Arsenal were only able to manage a 2-2 draw in their critical match with Liverpool.

It was another edition to a substandard few weeks in the club’s effort to improve upon two straight second-place finishes the last two years.

Arsenal’s two first half goals, however, were the only Liverpool has conceded all season, according to the NBC broadcast. Dec. 2023 was last time Liverpool conceded a first-half Premier League strike.
