Patriots quarterback Drake Maye shook off an early absence in Saturday’s game against the Chargers with an incredible touchdown pass.

New England’s rookie quarterback used a free play to his advantage, putting the Patriots on the board and cutting Los Angeles’ lead to 10, 17-7.

Chargers outside linebacker Bud Dupree jumped offside before the play began. With five free yards in his back pocket, Maye hurled a deep ball to wide receiver DeMario Douglas as a defender charged in his direction.

Maye released the ball before being hit, and Douglas made an excellent adjustment between two Chargers defenders to make the catch before rolling into the end zone for six.
