LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, made NBA history as the first father-son duo to play together in the Lakers’ regular-season opener against the Timberwolves on Tuesday night.

Bronny James, whom the Lakers selected in the second round (55th overall) of the 2024 NBA Draft, checked into the game for the first time with four minutes left in the second quarter.

He recorded an offensive rebound on Los Angeles’ second possession with him on the court.

James was mic’d up for the historic occasion, and the TNT broadcast aired a moment between the father and son before they checked in to the game together.

“You feel the intensity, right?” LeBron asked Bronny. “Just play care-free… don’t worry about mistakes. Just go out and play hard,” LeBron added.

During LeBron’s legendary 22-year career, he’s made 20 All-Star and All-NBA teams, won four MVP and Finals MVP awards, four NBA championships.

In February 2023, he set the NBA’s all-time scoring record, surpassing NBA Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record (38,387 points), which had stood since April 1984.

Among all of LeBron’s accomplishments, he’ll probably savor his latest the most.
