Nominate the Seattle Seahawks‘ botched snap against the Buffalo Bills for one of the biggest football follies of the year.
On a 2nd-and-goal at Buffalo’s three-yard line, trailing the Bills 7-0, a high snap from Seahawks center Connor Williams flew through quarterback Geno Smith’s hands. The ball rolled to Buffalo’s 29-yard line before Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III picked it up and ran for seven yards.
Two plays later, Seahawks kicker Jason Myers drilled a 38-yard field-goal attempt. Still, the awful snap must have been frustrating for Seattle — and it may have cost it a touchdown.
Perhaps Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald will give the offense a hard time about this play when he reviews it during the team’s next film session.
The Seahawks offense features talented playmakers, including Walker and second-year wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. However, the unit has ball-security issues.
Entering this game, Seattle was tied for eighth in the league in giveaways (10). While they didn’t lose the fumble vs. the Bills, the Seahawks must take better care of the ball.
