The New York Jets are moving on from veteran wide receiver Mike Williams.
Williams was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick, according to multiple reports.
Williams has been viewed as an expendable piece in New York since the Jets acquired Davante Adams in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders a few weeks ago. That deal happened to come together after Aaron Rodgers called out Williams for making a big mistake at the end of a loss.
There were reportedly multiple teams that showed interest in Williams. The Steelers had been linked to several veteran wideouts and were finally able to work out a deal for one.
Williams has 12 catches for 166 yards in nine games this season. He spent the first seven years of his career with the Los Angeles Chargers, where he averaged 54.6 yards per game and was a big-play threat. The Steelers are hoping the 30-year-old will help open things up for them while playing alongside George Pickens.
