Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins had a quiet debut with the Kansas City Chiefs but still showed he could be the game changer they need.
Last week, K.C. acquired Hopkins in a trade with the Tennessee Titans. Thus, he had little time to learn the Chiefs’ playbook, finishing with two receptions for 29 yards in Sunday’s, 27-20, victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.
But on the Chiefs’ opening drive, Hopkins caught a 13-yard pass on a 3rd-and-7 at K.C.’s 33-yard line, which impressed starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes. During his postgame news conference, Mahomes called the catch “high-level stuff.”
