The Philadelphia Eagles will have their quarterback back on the field for Sunday’s wild-card game against the Green Bay Packers.

According to Eagles reporter Tim McManus of ESPN, head coach Nick Sirianni announced on Friday that Hurts made it through concussion protocol and would play on Sunday.

Hurts suffered a concussion during the first quarter of the team’s loss to the Washington Commanders on Dec. 22. He did not play in either of the Eagles’ last two regular season games.

Since the Eagles’ Week 5 bye, Hurts has only accounted for one interception. Overall, he has 2,903 passing yards, 18 TDs and five interceptions. Hurts leads the team with 14 rushing TDs.

When the Eagles and Packers squared off in Week 1, Hurts passed for 278 yards with two TDs and two interceptions. Those two interceptions were a season-high.

Although the team’s leading receivers, A.J. Brown (knee) and DeVonta Smith (back tightness), have missed practice throughout the week, both are expected to play on Sunday. That would give Hurts his top two targets as he returns to the field.

Considering how the 2023 season ended with a blowout loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild-card round that gave the Eagles their sixth loss in their final seven games, the Eagles go into Sunday looking to put that to bed.

Running back Saquon Barkley (2,005 rush yards, 13 TDs) should be the primary focus of the offense, given he leads the NFL in rushing yards and had 109 and three TDs (one receiving) in the first meeting with the Packers.

Still, Hurts gives Philadelphia a dual-threat presence at QB and someone who has been extremely consistent all season long, which is exactly what the Eagles need as the postseason gets underway.
