He brings with him a trusted team of backroom staff, including Hadi Taboubi as First Assistant, Thomas Gornourec as Fitness Trainer, and Jean Daniel Padovani as Goalkeeper Trainer.

During his introduction, Eric Chelle conveyed his pride and excitement at being appointed as the head coach of the Super Eagles.
“I am deeply proud and honoured to become the new head coach of the Super Eagles. Nigeria boasts a rich football history, with legendary players like Ikpeba, Amokachi, Amuneke, Yekini, Oliseh, Eguavoen, Finidi, West, Obi Mikel, and Babangida,” he remarked.
“I admired the team as a fan back then, and now, with this new generation of talents like Lookman, Osimhen, and others, I am thrilled to be part of this exciting journey.”
Chelle also shared his vision of turning the Super Eagles into a formidable attacking side.

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has pledged to give his best efforts to secure the team’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 47-year-old manager signed a two-year contract with an option for an additional year, at the conference held in Abuja he stated, “I am grateful to my agent, the NFF, the NSC, and all Nigerians for this incredible opportunity. Coaching Nigeria’s Super Eagles is a prestigious role that I deeply appreciate. I am thrilled and fully committed to doing my very best.”
“Football is about scoring goals, so I prefer an attacking approach. I understand the expectations of Nigerians, and I will collaborate closely with my assistants to work hard toward achieving the goal of qualifying the Super Eagles for the 2026 FIFA World Cup,” he stated.
