Chelsea’s forward player, Nicolas Jackson, etched his name into the club’s history by equaling Didier Drogba’s Premier League record.

The Senegalese international became the first player to score two goals in the opening 18 minutes of a Premier League match. Nicolas Jackson achieved this feat in the game against West Ham United on Saturday, September 21, 2024, which was also his 50th appearance for the Blues in the league.

Chelsea’s legend, Didier Drogba, achieved this feat in January 2005 in a Premier League game against Middlesbrough. The Ivorian international scored two goals in the opening 18 minutes of the game against Boro.

Nicolas Jackson has been criticised by most Chelsea supporters and by neutrals for his lack of taking chances whenever they come his way. The 24-year-old who recently extended his contract until 2033 will hope that he can perfect his finishing in front of goals as the season progresses.

He has scored three goals this season and eight goals in the Premier League since May 2024 behind Manchester City’s goal machine, Erling Haaland.
