Nigeria has called on South Africa to support its bid for full membership in the G20, BRICS, and the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB) organizations. The appeal was made by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, during the 11th Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) in Cape Town. South Africa currently holds the G20 presidency, becoming the first African country to do so. Beyond that, it is a key member of the BRICS group of countries, which account for about 37% of global GDP. South Africa’s Minister of International Relations, Dr. Roland Lamola, acknowledged Nigeria’s requests and pledged that Pretoria will enhance Africa’s voice during its time at the helm of the G20. He emphasized that both countries are committed to enhancing bilateral relations and improving the quality of life of their citizens.
