Terri Lyons has secured the coveted title of Queen of Queens at the highly anticipated calypso competition in a dazzling display of talent and charisma. The event, held on Monday 30 December, at Carnival City, Montserrat, celebrated the finest female calypsonians across the Caribbean.

Nine contestants were in the 2024 finals of The Queen of Queens: Regional Female Calypso Competition. The finalists included: Daughter of The Soil (Tiffannie Skerritt-Flemming) – Montserrat, Chrystal Cummins-Beckles (Chrystal Holder) – Barbados, Shanice (Shanice Langford) – Dominica, Maggie D (Maggie Destouche) – Montserrat, Queen Singing Althea (Althea Williams), Karene Asche – Trinidad, Queen Independent (Karisia Willet) – St. Kitts & Nevis, Shanda (Nashanda Charles) – Grenada, and defending champion Terri Lyons – Trinidad.

Lyons delivered a show-stopping performance with her songs Black and Ugly and Ask Yuh Man, which earned her the top prize. Her powerful vocals, commanding stage presence, and thought-provoking lyrics left an indelible impression on the judges and the audience.

This marks the third time Lyons has won the prestigious Queen of Queens competition, further solidifying her legacy as one of the Caribbean’s finest calypsonians. Lyons is also a previous Trinidad & Tobago Calypso Monarch winner in 2020.

Speaking after her triumph, Lyons expressed her gratitude to her fellow contestants and supporters and emphasised the importance of calypso as a cultural cornerstone.

3rd. Kartisia Willet (1142 pts)
