Victor Wembanyama is just 20 years old and in only his second NBA season, but he’s already in the habit of making history. His latest entry for the record books came on Wednesday night, when he became the youngest San Antonio Spur (and fourth-youngest player ever) to score 50 points in a game. He also got to the half-century mark in just 26 minutes of action in the 139-130 win over the Washington Wizards, making him the fastest player to 50 points in a game. After the contest, Wembanyama said he wants to look back at this game as nothing special.
“Eventually, I want the rest of our performances to overshadow this one,” he said. “I want to make it where in the future, this is nothing special.”
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Wemby was brilliant as a rookie, averaging 21.4 points and 10.6 rebounds-per-game while leading the league with 254 blocks, and appears to be even better early on this season.
