Victor Osimhen’s agent reacts to proposed Saudi Pro-League transfer

According to reports, Victor Osimhen’s agent has addressed reports of a proposed transfer move for the Nigerian international to the Saudi pro-league.

Following initial confirmations of former Serie A champions Napoli receiving a transfer deal for Victor Osimhen from the Saudi pro-league side Al Ahli, the African Footballer of the Year 2023’s agent Calenda, in recent statements has reacted to the shocking news.

Is Victor Osimhen moving to the Saudi Pro League?

On Sunday, August 25, 2024, transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed via his official social media accounts that Al-Ahli has made the first serious offer for Victor Osimhen.

The bid is set at €70 million, which, although lower than his release clause, could still be tempting enough for Napoli to consider under the current circumstances.

Victor Osimhen has yet to announce his decision to join the club, while Napoli remains hopeful of securing €100 million plus bonuses for the Nigerian striker. However, this outcome seems increasingly unlikely with each passing day.

Victor Osimhen’s reaction to the proposed Saudi pro league deal

Victor Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, has emphasized that the Napoli striker “still has much to accomplish in Europe.” Calenda is known for openly sharing his thoughts regarding his client.

Chelsea has reportedly shown interest in signing the Nigerian striker, with Calenda previously dismissing talks of a possible swap deal between the Blues and Napoli as mere speculation. While Chelsea’s interest remains, they may need to offload one or two players before making a move.

Romelu Lukaku, once Chelsea’s record signing, is expected to join Napoli, which could provide Chelsea with the opportunity to move forward with their pursuit and make Napoli more inclined to sell Osimhen. However, interest from Saudi club Al Ahly might complicate the situation, as Napoli is nearing an agreement to sell their star striker for a €65 million fee.

Calenda shared, “Victor is not a package to be shipped far away to make room for new prophets. Victor still has so much to do IN EUROPE. Osimhen is a Napoli player, with a contract recently renewed with mutual satisfaction. He made history and when there were major offers (also this year) we always accepted the club’s decisions. Victor was elected African footballer of the year, 8th at the Ballon d’Or. There is need for respect and balance”.
