Alexander Ovechkin just does not seem to age. The Washington Capitals star scored his ninth and 10th goals of the season Saturday, contributing to a dominant 8-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues.

Ovechkin has now scored eight times in his last seven games, putting him on pace for his 10th career 50-goal season.

It was also his 175th career multi-goal game, just 14 behind Hockey Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky who has the most in league history (189).

“The Great Eight,” as he’s affectionately called, would pass both Gretzky and Mike Bossy for the all-time record for most 50-goal seasons in a career if he were to hit the mark this year.

The NHL record for most goals in a season by a player aged 39 or older is 39 set by Gordie Howe.

Ovechkin now has 863 career goals, making him just 32 away from passing Gretzky for most all-time (894).

He could also pass Ray Bourque for 12th on the all-time career points list (1,579) if he tallies another 11 points this season.

The only other active player ahead of Ovechkin on that list is Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby (1,612).
