The Calgary Flames were 3-0 winners over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night, and the Flames used that game and matchup as an opportunity to honor the memory of Johnny Gaudreau.

The Flames named Gaudreau the No. 1 star of the game, and brought his dad, Guy Gaudreau, out on the ice to mark the occasion.

Gaudreau, along with his brother Matthew, were both tragically killed by a drunk driver before the season in their New Jersey hometown when they were both home for their sister’s wedding. They were on a bike ride when they were struck.

Gaudreau was a star player for both the Flames and Blue Jackets.

The two teams already met this season in Columbus.

Tuesday’s game was the first meeting between the two teams in Calgary.
