Twenty-four years later, France finally got revenge for what Vince Carter did to Frederic Weis.

In the second quarter of Team USA’s gold-medal matchup with France Saturday, Guerschon Yabusele detonated on LeBron James, delivering a huge slam dunk over basketball royalty.

James arguably took a legal charge on the play, planting his feet just outside the charge circle, but Yabusele absolutely threw the ball down with authority. The former Boston Celtic has been a standout in these Olympics, averaging 12.8 points and shooting 55 percent.

In the gold-medal game, Yabusele had a game-high 15 points at the half as France trailed Team USA, 49-41. Team USA is greatly outshooting France from beyond the arc, going 9-of-20 on three-pointers to France’s 3-of-16 effort, but Yabusele and company are shooting 63.6 on two-pointers, with a lot of dunks.

Back in 2000, Carter delivered one of the greatest dunks of all time, Olympics or otherwise. Playing France and Weis, a first-round pick of the New York Knicks the previous summer, Carter stole a pass and dunked over the 7-foot-2 Frenchman.

Yabusele is under contract with Real Madrid until 2025, though he’s expressed interest in a reunion with the Celtics.
