The Los Angeles Rams offense received a big boost on Thursday night against the Minnesota Vikings with the return of their top wide receivers in Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua.
Both made an immediate impact in the first half, with Kupp catching a seven-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Matthew Stafford early in the second quarter.
While Kupp gets the credit for the receiving touchdown, it was the play by Stafford to avoid the pass rush that really makes the play.
Have a look.
The Rams have missed that over the past few weeks. Kupp has been sidelined since the second game of the season.
While it is nice for the Rams to have Kupp back in the lineup, it is worth wondering how long he will be there with the upcoming NFL trade deadline (Nov. 5).
Kupp’s name has been mentioned in trade rumors over the past week, and with several teams still in the market for a wide receiver upgrade he would be the top option still available.
The one thing that could complicate a trade is that even though the Rams entered play on Thursday night with a 2-4 record, they are still very much in the NFC West playoff race given how wide open the division is this season. If they still think they have a chance to win the division, there is not going to be as much motivation to make a move.
Getting Kupp and Nacua back at the same time might go a long way toward fixing the struggling offense and give them a reason to go for the division.
